The fight between Marvel and DC is not set to end anytime soon with Disney-Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War box office numbers set to crush Warner Bros.-DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It has been less than two weeks since the release of Civil War, but the movie has already surpassed the $700 million mark.
If the numbers keep on increasing at the current rate, it won’t be long before we see Captain America: Civil War box office numbers crossing the $1 billion mark. The movie is already the 83rd highest-grossing film of all time, as reported by Variety.
Disney-Marvel’s Civil War began its international journey on April 27, 2016 and has since collected $512.8 million. China leads in terms of gross collections with $104.6 million in just four days. South Korea follows next with $54.3 million and then the United Kingdom with $40.6 million.
The movie has already collected over $705.3 million worldwide and is touted to be the 25th film to cross the $1 billion mark. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has earned $868 million during its run worldwide and will soon be left behind by its Marvel counterpart. Aside from receiving mostly negative reviews and criticism from fans and critics alike, this will be another huge blow for the DC Comics franchise. The idea of seeing Civil War crushing Dawn of Justice through reviews and box office numbers will be painful for the DC fan boys.
Captain America: Civil War is a successful movie and has resonated well with the moviegoers. With such a huge commercial and critical success, many are arguing that the movie is the greatest superhero movie released of all time.
