‘Captain America: Civil War’: Iron Man hitting on Spider-Man’s Aunt May

Warning: Captain America: Civil War spoilers found in the article

In one of the Captain America: Civil War highlights, we saw Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) talking to Marisa Tomei (Spider-Man’s Aunt May) when the billionaire superhero visited the new Spidey’s (Tom Holland) house and recruited him to his side (or Team Iron Man) in the brewing battle between the two top Avengers in the newest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Flirting and hitting on Aunt May is probably pushing it as Tony Stark was more interested in convincing Peter Parker to join his team rather than ask Peter Parker’s pseudo-mother for a date.

But did you know that once upon a time Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. were a thing? At least they were in the romantic movie, “Only You” in 1994.

Those are the younger versions of Tomei and Downey with the romantic film released about 22 years before their scene together in “Captain America: Civil War”!

During and after the time they made the the movie “Only You”, Tomei and Downey were reportedly dating each other, in real life. No such news after their short reunion in the Civil War movie but this is the playboy Tony Stark we are talking about so what’s two decades apart if it’s in the name of wooing women—even if it means crossing Uncle Ben.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming”, the apparent working title for the next Marvel film on Spidey will reportedly feature Iron Man—which means more Robert Downey-Marisa Tomei probable scenes like in the “Captain America: Civil War”; and likely, no more all-too-cheesy lines from Tony Stark like the ones in the “Only You” trailers above.
