The Walking Dead fans are in a panic after Chandler Riggs’ father accidentally reveals his son might be about to leave the show.
The 17-year-old has been playing Carl Grimes, lead character Rick’s son, on the hit AMC show since the series began in 2010. Fans, both the TV show and comics alike, are in unison in saying that he has become a key cast member of the show. With news that he might be leaving, fans quickly took to social media their reaction.
The news of Chandler’s departure from the show seemed to stem from a recent Facebook post of his father, William. In the said post, the Riggs patriarch may have rambled the future plot plans of the show. The post goes: “7-year contract completed! Grateful to AMC, Cast & Crew, TWD fan base and especially Chandler for always 100% dedicated.”
“Whether it was getting up at 4am, working in the freezing cold past 2am,” the father continued. “Leaving his friends and carefree kingdom behind, scrambling to make up missed schoolwork. He has done it without complaint and always made me proud & amazed to be his dad!”
While this is a sweet dedication to his son, fans of The Walking Dead panicked. It might mean Carl Grimes will be killed off in the coming episodes of the current season. However, it would greatly affect the storyline of the show as it has already been renewed for another season, according to Metro UK.
In light of the said Facebook post, fans began hounding the young star on Twitter:

An official announcement has not been made as of the moment. Chandler, too, has been worryingly silent about the rumors. However, earlier this month, the actor shared that he has been accepted to the Auburn University. So, it may be possible that he may be quitting fame for a while to focus on his studies.
