With BAU Chief Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) already saying goodbye from the unit, he will be leaving a big hole as the leader of the group. Many are asking who will replace him as the next BAU chief and rumors have been circling that it will be Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster). Along with Brewster is Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) who will be pitted against Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness).

Criminal Minds fans who have seen the show since its beginning are familiar with Paget’s character, Emily Prentiss, who had been a regular member of the show from season 2 to 7. After she said goodbye, she had made recurring appearances over the years. Now, she is back again and it’s for good.

Brewster said that Prentiss had been busy working for the Interpol explaining her character’s long absence from the show. Now that Hotchner is gone, she has big shoes to fill as the next BAU chief. Of course, BAU is not something new for Prentiss and despite the challenges of the position, she can surely live up to it.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez made his debut in the show during the first episode as Shemar Moore’s replacement. Aside from the cases he has to solve with the team, Alvez had to deal with Garcia’s coldness towards him as she will feel a little animosity and aloofness after some of her close friends have already left.

Brewster and Alvez will test their rapport as teammates when they work on their first case together on the episode called Taboo. The synopsis for the episode said that the team will investigate the disappearance of women. It turned out that they are dealing with someone who is psychologically sick. The team will soon find out that the killer has an uncanny way of disposing of his victims.

Criminal Minds airs on Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. On CBS.
