Guardians of the Galaxy 2 confirmed to be about finding Star-Lord’s father?

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2’s synopsis has been revealed and confirms that the outer space superhero movie will be about Peter Quill’s (Star-Lord) parentage.

Here’s the full synopsis of the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, via stitchkingdom.com

“Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage,” the article stated.

“Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.”

The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie saw the death of Star-Lord’s mother in a hospital before the latter was abducted by a space ship. Peter never met his father and there have been many speculations that he will eventually meet his father while in outer space.

The “old foes” in the synopsis could Nebula or Yondu, who are expected to return in the second movie. Directe by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 stars Chris Patt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Zaldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice for Groot and Bradley Cooper as the voice for Rocket Raccoon.

Guardians of the Galaxy part 1 was a surprise box office hit for Marvel in 2014 after earning about $773.9 million since its release. It’s has earned more than the likes of Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set for release May 5, 2017.
