Carrie Fisher finally revealed her shocking secret with Harrison Ford in her forthcoming book, The Princess Diarist, which she has guarded closely for 40 years: She was 19 when she and the then 33-year-old married father of two had an affair during the original Star Wars 1976 shoot.
Princess Leia, the character played by Fisher in the Star Wars saga, apparently could not resist the charms of Han Solo, played by Ford, in real life as she accused the actor of seducing her in a birthday party for director George Lucas, which happened after a day’s filming of the original Star Wars movie.
The affair was given in details in the Fisher’s forthcoming book and also on her interview with People. The actress/author, now 60 years old, told the magazine, “It was so intense,” when asked about her affair with the former co-actor.
“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend,” Fisher said.
Ford was a 33-year old married father of two when he met the beautiful, fresh-faced, 19-year-old Fisher on the London set of the original blockbuster science-fiction classic movie.
The daughter of American showbiz royals, Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, the budding actress said Ford offered to drive her home when she got drunk during a birthday party for director George Lucas and they eventually ended up in bed.
An excerpt from the The Princes Diarist was obtained by People and stated that Ford got a heads-up about the book and also received a draft.
“I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow,” Fisher writes. “How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”
According to Radar Online, Fisher recalled that their first lovemaking did not exactly send her over the moon either, but she forgave him because “he really was handsome.” She was also sexually inexperienced during that time and said that she was “a bad kisser,” the outlet reports.
The book contains excerpts from the diary, she kept the three-month affair, in which she said she tried to make him love her and fantasized about him marrying her and giving her a “gold band with diamonds (inscribed) ‘Carrison.”’
Their unlikely romance ran its course once the film wrapped and Ford returned to his wife Mary Marquardt and their two sons.
Ford’s marriage broke up soon after but Carrie Fisher insisted that the divorce was “for reasons having nothing whatsoever to do with me.”
