Rumors are circulating that the heartthrob of the popular CW show ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Ian Somerhalder is quitting the show. International Business Times reports that the popular actor has decided to quit the show after season 7.

According to the report, Ian is likely to follow the footsteps of former girlfriend and co-star, Nina Dobrev and focus on a career in movies. Although Ian has yet to confirm the reports, the internet is already abuzz with the rumors. Angry fans have already voiced their disapproval. Some have even threatened to quit watching the show.

Another rumor that is circulating is that the character of Damon Salvatore played by Somerhalder would be killed off at the end of season 7. The promo video of the upcoming episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ shows that Rayna apparently convinced Stefan Salvatore to transfer the mark to his brother Damon.

In the previous episode, viewers saw Stefan come up with the perfect plan to kill Rayna. But unfortunately, the plan had to be dropped after Bonnie, played by Kat Graham, informed him that Rayna is on her last life. This then means that if she dies, everyone who has been marked dies with her. Damon then decides to sacrifice his own life to save his brother and agrees to have the mark transferred. Rayna too agrees with it.

Fans will have to wait until April 1 to find out whether Damon dies or not. However, if Damon dies in the show, then Elena Gilbert will have to spend her eternity alone. Currently, Elena Gilbert formerly played by Nina Dobrev is on a magical slumber whose life is linked to Bonnie’s.

Meanwhile, the show has been renewed for season 8. Recently, executive producer of the show, Julie Plec said that she will continue writing for the show as long as Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley stayed on the show.

“I finally realised that my destiny on this show, creatively, is tied in to Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley,” Plec told E!News. “And I mean that in a really good way. As long as those boys who I now consider my friends want to keep telling the story, then I won’t walk away from telling the story.”
