Robert Downey Jr., the actor who played Tony Stark, himself confirmed in 2014 that Iron Man 4 is bound to hit the big screen. This was during his guesting on the Ellen DeGeneres show that gave the fans something to look forward to.
It’s been two years since his announcement but looks like fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer. When is it coming out then?
GameNGuide reported that Marvel Studios may have some bad news for the fans. The studio responsible for the release of Iron Man revealed that the much-anticipated fourth installment may or may not hit the big screen in 2020. In addition, the Iron Man 4 movie is said to be non-existent in the Marvel Phase 3 lineup.
Further, Marvel Studios confirmed that Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Panther and Captain Marvel are all set to appear on the big screen in 2018, 2018 and 2019, respectively. Aside from that, the studio also mentioned three movies slated in 2020 without mentioning any titles. An indication that Iron Man 4 could be one of these three movies, perhaps?
The three yet-untitled movies will be released on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020, according to The Gamer’s Drop.
If the fourth installment is indeed being released in 2020, the fans can only wonder if Downey Jr. will still play the iron-clad superhero. Downey Jr. has been suiting up as the Iron Man since 2008 and fans theories suggest that maybe it’s time for him to retire the character.
In line with this, rumors are also starting to circulate about who will continue the Iron Man franchise. Marvel names such as Riri Williams and Harley Keener came up but none of these theories have been confirmed by Marvel.
