Ever since Kang Gary announced his decision to depart from Running Man, social media is buzzing with high-voltage emotion across South Korea. His co-members from the show could not hold their emotions back while expressing their surprise and sadness at losing the popular artist from the show that has ruled the Korean TV airtime for close to six years now.

In his latest Instagram post, Ji Suk Jin captured the emotions on the sets of the Running Man, asking Kang Gary, for one last time, posed for group pictures and selfies with the cast, technicians and the fans of the show.

The fans woke up to the “lighting from the blue” on October 25, when producers of the show announced thr Leessang artist’s departure. Kang Gary also took to Instagram to announce his sudden decision to leave Running Man. He not only expressed his regret on quitting the show, but also sought forgiveness from his fans. He thanked the Running Man cast and asked the fans to follow the show post his departure.

An established hip-hop artist and rapper, Kang Gary launched his solo debut in 2014 with a stirring provocative album, Mr. Gae. Despite the ban on its broadcast by top TV stations—MBC, KBC and SBS, the title track “Shower Later” climbed to the top of the chartbusters that year. Popular singles like “Your Scent”, “Lonely Night”, “Mei Guan Xi” and “Bicycle” must have prompted Gary to shift his focus to singing.

Tagged as “Random Mr. Capable”, the Dark Horse of the show is a record holder and the most loved Running Man Prize Winner in its history.

Will the show lose its charm with Gary’s departure? An insider told The Jakarta Post that the producers of the show have no plans to recruit a new host as yet.
