Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

Before the Katy Perry Roar video hit one billion views on Vevo or Perry becoming the first female artist to hit 5 number 1 hits on one album, “Teenage Dream” which is second only to Michael Jackson’s Bad, she used to be busy doing a lot of nothing, says Lava Records CEO Jason Flom.

Katy Perry and boyfriend Orlando Bloom of Pirates of the Carribean are now rumored to be getting serious about marriage, talking about a family with kids.

The Daily Star reported, “Orlando always gushes about Katy, and think she’s amazing in a million ways.”

“He would love to settle down with Katy and have more kids. He hasn’t been this serious about a girl since Miranda.”

Katy Perry seems to have enthused Orlando Bloom well, but Jason Flom, in an interview with Radio remembers how he first passed on upon hearing her songs.

She was just dropped by Columbia Records. Her first album Katy Hudson, under her birth name in 2001 was unsuccessful, and when her music was first played with them, Jason Flom didn’t sign her, at least not until after a month.

“I got her music that she had made for Columbia. “And I went back to the office and played it for a bunch of my top people there. They were like ‘This f—ing sucks, this is terrible.’

“The only one of the songs on the CD that became a hit was ‘Waking Up In Vegas.’ Even still, I loved it and everybody was like, ‘Please don’t sign this. We’re turning this company around, don’t weigh us down with this nonsense.’ I was like, ‘Maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know.’”

Flom said he saw something special about Katy Perry the first time she saw her and regrets letting others shape his opinion. He said, Perry always seemed to have that star quality in spite of leading an ordinary life, and not having a dime or a car.

“Then a month or so later I’m working out in the gym and I was listening to Katy in my headphones and I was like, ‘This is ridiculous, she’s great. I’m so dumb. How could I have slept on this?’ I always loved it, but I was listening to other people’s opinions and I was letting those sway me. So I called her up.”

Katy Perry has now sold 100 million records globally and is one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Katy Perry songs include Roar, Rise, Dark Horse, and Firework.
