Marvel on Netflix series Luke Cage is the most successful comic books-based series in TV recently. It beat the likes of “Stranger Things”, “Making a Murderer”. According to sources, it also beat the extremely popular ones like “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones”.
Symphony Advanced Media, has based their reports from their own numbers since Netflix does not release official numbers or estimates. It states that “Luke Cage” had the biggest premiere among the highly touted series on Netflix.
The season debut of “Luke Cage” reportedly dominated the 18-49 years old demographic. It was interesting to see “Luke Cage” outperform “Daredevil” in their season premieres. This is considering the latter is more popular among comic books and Marvel fans.
‘Luke Cage’ better than ‘Daredevil’?
According to the report, 6.32 percent of Netflix subscribers in the said demographic saw “Luke Cage” within 32 days of the season debut. However, “Orange is the New Black” and “Fuller House” remains the most popular series on Netflix.
By comparison, “Daredevil” was at 5.94 and “Stranger Things” had 9.81 and “Making a Murderer” was at 9.1 in the same bracket. The last two had better numbers than “Luke Cage” after the week of release as they gained more hype online but “Luke Cage” was more consistent on opening week.

“Luke Cage” is also the highest rated Marvel show on Rotten Tomatoes among all Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) releases. New shows like “The Punisher”, “Defenders” and “Iron Fist” are all expected to draw large numbers but it remains to be seen if they can topple “Luke Cage” in the numbers ratings game or if it will be critically acclaimed like “Daredevil” and others Marvel series.
