A recent Forbes interview of Jared Kushner, US President-elect Donald Trump’s son-in-law and main Trump campaign advisor, reveals that TV shows like NCIS and The Walking Dead played major roles in the Trump presidency.
Jared Kushner, who many believe is the man responsible for Trump winning the presidency, had his first major interview. The 35-year-old revealed a lot of things regarding his father-in-law and his presidential campaign. Among the things that stand out is how he used popular TV shows to place Trump to the White House.
Apparently, Kushner knows exactly what the American voters like, both in terms of political priorities and TV preferences. He revealed that putting pro-Trump commercials in popular TV shows like NCIS and The Walking Dead proved successful. So, if you saw some very specific pro-Trump ad during your favorite programs this year, Kushner is to blame.

An excerpt from the Forbes report goes:
“Kushner’s crew was able to tap into the Republican National Committee’s data machine, and it hired targeting partners like Cambridge Analytica to map voter universes and identify which parts of the Trump platform mattered most: trade, immigration or change. Tools like Deep Root drove the scaled-back TV ad spending by identifying shows popular with specific voter blocks in specific regions — say, NCIS for anti-ObamaCare voters or The Walking Dead for people worried about immigration.”
Additionally, Vulture notes that the husband of Ivanka Trump, real-estate developer and head of the Trump campaign’s data operation helped the president-elect utilize supporter data to make a targeted advertising strategy. Let’s say you’re a viewer who loves AMC and CBS shows, but hates the ObamaCare and the alleged immigration threat. Your favorite shows probably featured some pro-Trump commercials.
A.V.Club though explains the NCIS connection. The outlet notes that it probably has to do more with demographics than the show itself. It means that people who watch NCIS are typically Republican voters.
The Walking Dead, however, is a bit interesting. Maybe its narrative story is the reason why people who are worried about immigration are drawn to the show. The outlet notes that it might parallel the show’s story to the real problem of immigration.
Whatever the reason is, Trump won either way.
