Nina Dobrev is all set to star in Sony’s remake of Flatliners. The former Vampire Diaries actress will star opposite Ellen Page and Diego Luna in the sci-fi medical thriller, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Neils Arden Oplev, director of the Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo will be directing the remake. The originals 1990 film starred Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon. The story is based on a group of medical students who conduct near-to-death experiments to travel into the after-world.
Nina will be playing the character of Marlo, an overachiever who is always at the top of her class.
Written by Ben Ripley, the remake will be produced by Michael Douglas and Laurence Mark.
Nina Dobrev left her hit CW show The Vampire Diaries to focus on movies. And judging by her present line of projects, her Hollywood career surely seems to have taken off. She is currently busy filming XXX: The Return of Xander Cage starring Vin Diesel, Ruby Rose and Deepika Padukone.
She also recently wrapped up an indie comedy Crash Pad opposite Domhnall Gleeson.
Nina Dobrev left Vampire Diaries after Season 6. Rumors suggest that she left the show because of her ex-flame and co-star Ian Somerhalder.
The ex-couple started dating on the sets of the show but broke up in May 2013. After their break up, Ian went on to marry Nina’s good friend and Twilight actress Nikki Reed.
Since then, Nina Dobrev has been on a dating spree. She dated Austin Stowell for a brief period before calling it quits early this year. She has also been linked to NFL star Tim Tebow whom she met on the sets of Lip Sync Battle.
More recently, the actress has been linked to her XXX co-star Vin Diesel. According to reports, Ms. Dobrev is extra-close to Vin Diesel on the sets. However, there were also reports that Nina is bisexual.
