Outlander Season 3 News: Emotional soundtrack from season 2 is released to bring more tears to the fans

Outlander may be on hiatus right now as filming for season three is currently underway, but that does not mean fans are in a complete Droughtlander as the soundtrack from season two is set to be released at the end of this month.

With numerous reports of speculations and rumors flying before the airing of Outlander season 3, a preview of the two soundtracks from season two are currently playing in the airwaves to bring more tears and nostalgia to the fans.

The first soundtrack titled Faith, which will be released in full on October 28 but fans can pre-order it on Amazon or iTunes, has brought many tears to the fans. The emotional song was featured on Outlander season 2 episode 7 also titled Faith.

The gorgeous piece is composed by Bear McCreary, who got the inspiration for the song from his infant daughter. The song was played during Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) emotional dealing with a miscarriage and the loss of her daughter named Faith.

“‘Faith’, composed for Outlander’s heartbreaking midseason finale, needed to capture the innocent tones of childhood, and ultimate emotional devastation,” McCreary said of the song through E! Online.  “I wept openly as I scored the final scene in this episode. When I finished the last note, I went into my infant daughter’s room, picked her up and held her close for an hour, grateful for her inspiration.”

The second soundtrack, the French The Skye Boat Song, which has already been released, is also composed by Bear McCreary as part of Outlander season two official soundtrack to be released at the end of the month.

The nostalgic theme song is sung by Raya Yarbrough with French and Scottish arrangements. The piece is a new version of the theme song that was used during emotional scenes of Sam and Claire in season two.

Composer McCreary feared that the new version may cause irritation to listeners, but it is ideal for the series. He ensures, however, that the new theme song version is made to fit every scene of Outlander as it has two-time locations.

Along with the new Outlander companion book, The Making of Outlander The Series: The Official Guide to Seasons One & Two, the producers hope to appease the fans who are waiting for the upcoming season to air.
