La Liga giant Real Madrid is set to sell five of their first-team players. This is in order to gather funds for a major spending spree in the upcoming summer transfer window. It’s election year for Los Blancos President Florentino Perez. The 70-year-old will try to form a Galactico 3.0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Keylor Navas, James Rodriguez, Isco, Danilo, and Alvaro Morata are the players set to be sold by the Real Madrid hierarchy, as reported by OKdiario. The Spanish publication also suggests that the likes of Fabio Coentrao and Mariano will also be off the books in Madrid next season.
Real Madrid targets in the summer
David de Gea, Eden Hazard, Marco Verratti, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kylian Mbappe, and Paulo Dybala are Real Madrid’s top targets in the summer transfer window. The Los Blancos wants to get rid of their dead wood in order to avoid Financial Fair Play (FFP) bans and also for their financial stability.
Perez is reportedly planning to spend as much as £500 million ($620m) in the summer to bring his favorite targets into the club. According to reports, the targeted players will cost Real in the region of £70 – £100 million ($86 – $123m) each.
Who is leaving why?
James Rodriguez is struggling to get first-team football under Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. The Colombia international was keen to leave the Santiago Bernabeu earlier in January. However, as the Los Blancos were unable to get a replacement, the player was not sold. But, he will be let go in the summer. Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus are interested in his signature, according to Sportskeeda.
Isco was benched by Zidane in favor of Marco Asensio at the beginning of the current season. However, following the player’s injury, the former Malaga man was called up again. Since his inclusion in the squad, Isco has been sensational for Real Madrid. However, reports suggest that the player will be sold in the summer with Manchester City and Bayern Munich interested.
Danilo is presently frustrated in Madrid ever since he signed from FC Porto. The player has reportedly requested a transfer and will likely to be sold back to Portugal. However, Premier League giants Manchester United are also taking a keen look at the situation.
Meanwhile, Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas is rumored to be having talks with Serie A club Lazio. The Costa Rica international is sure that the Los Blancos will be signing Manchester United custodian David de Gea in the summer. This will end his chance of being the first choice goalkeeper for next season.
Finally, striker Alvaro Morata is the fifth player on the transfer list likely to leave Madrid this summer. The Spaniard has reportedly informed his close friends and relatives that he will be joining Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.
