One of the most pressing questions Star Wars 8 need to answer in its upcoming release in theaters one year from now is a leading role’s parental lineage as it will answer a lot of questions regarding other characters as well.

With the recent interview of Daisy Ridley, who plays the mysterious character in question Rey, via Vulture, the actress revealed a major spoiler that will shock most Star Wars fans. Due to the mystery of her character and its connections to other major characters as well, Ridley was once again questioned about Rey’s parentage.

Among the most important question the publication asked was whether or not Rey might be related to Obi-Wan Kenobi to which the actress’ answer was non-committal: “We will see in a year,” Ridley replied. “Just sit tight on that question.”

Another possible candidate for Rey’s parents is Luke Skywalker because of her “force sensitivity” but it was ruled out and their relation was just considered to be a “passing of the torch” as Rey is groomed to be the “Luke Skywalker” of her generation.

Fans are relieved to know that the upcoming sequel to Star Wars will finally provide some light to Rey’s parentage as it will make a major impact to the story of the rest of the trilogy. Many were left dumbfounded when Rey’s family history came in as an unexpected trivia in The Force Awakens, as hints of her early life were revealed.

Rey’s father is not the only one being haunted by spoilers and rumor makers, but her possible mother as well, with Jyn Erso (the main character in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) in the picture.

As Rogue One is gearing its debut almost two months from now, Ridley was asked by Vulture if it might be possible for Erso to be Rey’s mother to which the actress, after trying to work out the timeline of the Star Wars series in her head, realized it would not make much sense.

“I mean, I think historically it wouldn’t work, because she is… Darth Vader is there… so she would ultimately be my great-grandma; no, she would be my grandma,” Ridley said. “I mean, it could happen, especially in a galaxy far, far away.”

Parental lineage is a very crucial issue to a character in the Star Wars saga, so after all the mystery of Rey’s parents, the upcoming Star Wars sequel will not be wasted without it. Fans may as well be patient as the wait is all worth it.
