Star Wars: Chewbacca confirmed to appear in Han Solo movie

Fresh from their appearance in the Star Wars, “The Force Awakens,” the duo of Chewbacca and Han Solo is set to star in their own movie which is due to be shown in 2018. This was confirmed by Disney chief Bob Iger during the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference on Tuesday.

The new movie, to be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, narrates the beginning of the partnership of Han Solo and Chewy. It will come after “Star Wars 8” in 2018. Tentative date of showing is May 25.  The standalone film is set ten years before A New Hope

Many “Star Wars” followers assumed that Chewbacca had a significant influence in the young Han Soo movie. After all, one cannot imagine Han Solo without his Wookie friend. Plot details are still kept under wraps.

Disney is still in the process of completing the cast. Possible actors of the movie being considered are Miles Teller, Dave Franco, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Bad news for Star Wars fans as Harrison Ford, the original Han Solo, begged off from the movie.

Peter Mayhem, the actor behind Chewbacca, recently made a teaser of a special announcement that he still has to make. This is probably in reference with the return of Chewy in the Han Solo film.

Meanwhile, Disney chief Iger informed the attendees of the conference that side stories are marketed in a different way but aggressively so as not to divert fans from the current saga. He then briefly discussed the next chapter in the Star Wars franchise, “Rogue One : A Star Wars Story,” which is about a band of rebels who plots to steal the plans to the Death Star. The movie stars British actress Felicity Jones.

Other Star Wars films slated to hit the movies include Rogue One, Episode VIII, Episode IX, and movies centering around characters like Boba Fett, Obi Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu, played by Samuel L. Jackson in previous movies. .
