Kanye West is one of the most awarded artists, not just of his generation, but also of all-time. He has sold more than 32 million albums in his illustrious career that garnered him 21 Grammy awards. He is also known to be very outspoken and a magnet for controversies.
On Friday night, Kanye West unveils his NSFW music video for “Famous,” from his latest album, The Life of Pablo. Before a sold-out crowd of 8,000 people at the LA Forum in Inglewood, California the vocal Kanye West let his new video do the “talking.”
The eight-minute film drew a range of reactions from the crowd as it showed Kanye West himself lying in bed with his wife Kim Kardashian, along with Taylor Swift, whom West is known to be in a controversial relationship with after he disrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for the VMA award.
The video further shows Ray J (Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend), Chris Brown, Amber Rose, Rihanna, Caitlyn Jenner, Bill Cosby, Anna Wintour, Donald Trump and George Bush. The video showed them sleeping in one huge bed, impliedly after a sex orgy, resting quietly.
They all lay naked. Of them all, Taylor Swift was the most exposed, lying face up, while Kardashian was on her side enough to show her famous bum.
The video has left people confused, while some praised Kanye West for being a genius.
Kanye West is no stranger to controversies for being so unspoken. Back in 2005 he openly stated on live TV for Hurricane Katrina, saying “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
He refused to comment on which of the 12 personalities portrayed in the video were digitally enhanced or look-alikes. And although they were all naked, the intention was not to send an erotic message, but a comment on fame. In fact, before the end of the clip, a statement “Special thanks for being famous” appears.
