Given the fact that ‘Once Upon a Time’ is a modern fantasy fairy tale, it is not surprising that some of its characters will come back from the afterlife. With the season 6 opener already happening, there are rumors that another character will come back and that is none other than Robin Hood (Sam Maguire).
When Robin Hood got killed in the last season, not only Regina but also a lot of fans were devastated. However, the latest updates revealed that Robin Hood will have recurring appearances in the next season of ‘Once Upon a Time’ according to executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.
When asked whether Robin Hood will be back from the dead in season 6, the producers said that they will not “pull a Hook” on this one referring to an episode where the group went to the Underworld to snatch Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) from the dead. Rather, this season will focus more on Regina dealing with her loss and allowing her to mourn her loss properly.
“We’ve had loss on this show, we’ve had people come back. We’re not going to the Underworld this year, so I can tell you that a lot of this year is about Regina dealing with loss and moving on, because I think Regina has the most unfair luck of anybody, but that’s what makes her Regina,” said Kitsis during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The producers also said that Season 6 will show Regina moving on. Not in a way that she will have a new lover but moving on in a sense that she will come to terms with the fact that her lover is really dead and no chance of going back.
The Season 6 opener of ‘Once Upon a Time’ also suggested that Robin Hood’s soul is not in limbo but have moved on to a blissful place. With that in mind, fans should expect that Robin will appear in flashbacks next season.
‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
