DeMarcus Cousins News: George Karl attempted to trade Boogie last season?
It seems that trade rumors about DeMarcus Cousins are not a new thing as his earlier coach, George Karl, reportedly attempted to trade him last season.

DeMarcus Cousins has been reportedly on the trading block and could part ways with the Sacramento Kings before the February deadline. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Portland Trail Blazers are eyeing to create their own ‘Big Three’ of Cousins, C.J. McCollum, and Damian Lillard.

The Portland Trail Blazers entered the 2016-17 NBA season with the goal of contending for the NBA championship title. The backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum remained as one of the best in the league, helping their team to be competitive every game. However, if they want to compete against teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, they should consider boosting their frontcourt and add a superstar big man.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Portland Trail Blazers are one of the teams that are expected to make a big move before the February deadline.

“The suspicion among numerous league observers is that the Blazers’ non-stop spending this past offseason was asset collection as much as anything. Scan through all those names again and it’s clear Portland has no shortage of options to thrust itself into all kinds of trade talks as GM Neil Olshey continues to shape the roster around backcourt bedrocks Lillard and C.J. McCollum,” Stein wrote.

Andy Bailey of the Bleacher Report revealed that the Trail Blazers are willing to offer the likes of Allen Crabbe, Evan Turner, Moe Harkless and Meyers Leonard just to acquire a superstar big man. There are speculations that DeMarcus Cousins is the NBA star that attracts the Trail Blazers the most.

Recently, several NBA general managers revealed that the Sacramento Kings are actively shopping “Boogie” but want too much in return. An unnamed Western Conference executive said that he is willing to throw valuable assets provided that Cousins will not be a problem in the locker room.

“I’d take (Cousins), but you’d need a dominant personality to control him,” one Western Conference executive said. “I’ve been in that locker room. He’s a problem. They’d love to trade him, but can’t. So they act like they won’t. They would, though — tomorrow.”

As most people noticed, the Kings’ endless struggle is one of the major reasons why DeMarcus Cousins expressed his frustrations on his teammates and even his coaches. With a playoff contending team like the Trail Blazers, it will definitely bring him positive vibes, especially teaming up with the likes of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.

With the Kings projected to suffer another disappointing season, there is no way that they could make DeMarcus Cousins extend his tenure in Sacramento. Trading him now will the best option than losing him in 2018 free agency without getting anything in return.
