Will DeMarcus Cousins stay with the Sacramento Kings next season? The Kings are reluctant to trade their best player in this summer, as revealed by Sacramento’s vice president of basketball operations, Vlade Divac.

“He’s not going to be traded – this year for sure,” said Vlade Divac.

Cousins will become a free agent in 2018. The Kings will have three more trade windows before that to trade him off if they want; 2017 trade deadline, 2017 offseason and 2018 trade deadline, according to the Real GM.

The Kings are looking to continue to rebuild their roster next season. And they hope that their All-star maintain a healthy relationship with new head coach Dave Joerger to steer in the right direction.

But there is no guarantee that will happen, and Divac did the right job to quiet the trade rumors. Former Kings’ coach Gorge Karl feels that the Kings can enter rebuild faster by trading off Cousins.

During Cousins six-year stint at Sacramento, the star and Kings were only once in good place- at the beginning of the 2014-15 season. The center displayed his best defensive play and the franchise was overwhelmed with its win record under coach Mike Malone. Then viral meningitis ruled out Cousins, and the Kings fired Malone. Cousins recently revealed that Sacramento would have become a playoff team, had they kept Malone as their head coach.

Some experts believe that the Kings should trade the 25-year old All-star. The front office can surely get young players who can develop into a star and draft picks.
