Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the New York Knicks, who is reportedly trading for Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers continue to struggle and remain as the worst team in the Eastern Conference. They were still unable to address the logjam in their frontcourt, but most people believe that a deal could happen soon. As most rumors say, Nerlens Noel is the odd man in the City of Brotherly Love.

Before the start of the season, Noel expressed his frustration after the Sixers were unable to fix their crowded frontcourt. The 22-year-old big man undergoes a left knee rehabilitation and expected to rejoin the Sixers on Thursday. However, Nerlens Noel needs to prove that he deserves to earn more playing time than Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor.

So far, Embiid continues to impress and currently the Sixers star of the offense. He also showed good chemistry with Okafor when both of them are inside the court. This heated up the speculations that Noel could be dealt before the February deadline.

Several NBA teams expressed their interest to acquire Nerlens Noel, including the New York Knicks. The Knicks entered the 2016-17 NBA season with the goal of contending for the title. However, they were still unable to live up to expectation after successfully building a “Super Team”.

Maxwell Ogden of Daily Knicks sees Noel as an interesting frontcourt partner with Kristaps Porzingis. Despite having Joakim Noah, the Knicks still struggled on the defensive end.

“There’s no guaranteeing that Noel will be available to the Knicks, but he’s an interesting player to evaluate. New York is No. 24 in the NBA in points allowed per game and No. 27 in points allowed per 100 possessions. Given Noel’s status a rising star on the defensive end of the floor, exploring the possibility of pairing him with Kristaps Porzingis is a tantalizing proposition,” Ogden wrote.

As of now, the Sixers remain silent on rumors surrounding their big men. However, if a team could give an interesting offer, there is a higher possibility Nerlens Noel will finish the season wearing a different jersey.
