The Philadelphia 76ers are still unable to get their first win of the 2016-17 NBA season and there are speculations that they are eyeing to improve their roster via trade. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Sixers are having trade talks with the Portland Trail Blazers involving Nerlens Noel and Allen Crabbe.

Philadelphia 76ers general manager Bryan Colangelo made it clear that his team has no plan to tank this season. However, with their current status, it seems like they are destined to become a lottery team again. Though it is early to predict, three of the Sixers’ key players are still sidelined due to injury, including Jerryd Bayless, Nerlens Noel, and Ben Simmons.

As of now, the Sixers are still unable to address the logjam in their frontcourt, especially at the center position. However, it is clear that coach Brett Brown prefers Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor to stay, leaving Nerlens Noel as their third option at 5.

In the recent October 31 deadline, the Sixers and Noel have not come to terms on a contract extension, giving him the chance to become a restricted free agent next summer. However, there are speculations that the Sixers are going to deal him before the trade deadline.

According to Bret Stuter of the Sixer Sense, the Sixers are disappointed with the performance of their wings Gerald Henderson and Robert Covington. Recalling in the past months, the Sixers tried to steal Allen Crabbe from the Portland Trail Blazers.

However, after being the worst team last season, the Sixers did not become an attractive destination for quality free agents in the recent offseason. Stuter said that the Sixers could engage in a trade deal with the Trail Blazers that could send Nerlens Noel to Portland for Allen Crabbe.

Marc Stein of ESPN revealed that the Portland Trail Blazers will be active in the trade market this season.

“Portland is the surest team to make a trade this season. The Blazers have an aggressive front office and more wings (Allen Crabbe, Evan Turner, Moe Harkless) and bigs (Mason Plumlee, Meyers Leonard and Festus Ezeli) than they need. So keep an eye on them,” Stein wrote.

Once this trade proceeds, it will definitely help both teams in filling up the needs to improve on their roster. Nerlens Noel will provide the Trail Blazers a quality rim protector, reciprocating the explosiveness of C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard at the offensive end.

For the Sixers, Allen Crabbe will undeniably be a huge upgrade on their wings and could possibly be one of their top scorers. Trading Noel now will be a best option than losing him in free agency without getting anything in return.
