The Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings are playing so bad this season that this could lead to a John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins reunion, according to the latest NBA trade rumors.

Wall and Cousins were teammates in the star-studded Kentucky team in college basketball. If the Kings and Wizards agree to the rumored trade, they’d be playing with each other again for the first time since leading the Wildcats to an Elite Eight appearance in the 2010 NCAA March Madness.

Being one of the top seeds that year in college basketball and failing to win the title was a disappointment for both Cousins and Wall. The team also featured Eric Bledsoe (Phoenix Suns) and Patrick Paterson (Toronto Raptors). Teaming up together in the NBA would mean a chance to work together again and aim for a championship after their failed bid in college.

Wall has shared his frustrations early this season accusing the referees that he’s not getting the right calls this year. The Wizards lost to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, 109-102 on Wednesday night and this will add to Wall’s frustration at this point of the season.

How to solve the problem in Washington: Trade for DeMarcus Cousins

There is only one way for the Wizards to solve their problems this year. And that is by acquiring another superstar to pair alongside Wall. Bradley Beal is a good scorer but is not seen as a superstar that can lead the team in the playoffs. Or not seen as a good fit with Wall.

There were also rumors of a rift between Wall and Beal earlier this summer and that rift is going to be magnified as the Wizards struggle to get the wins early in the regular season.

“But really, if the Washington Wizards don’t start winning games and the Sacramento Kings continue to Sacramento King, Ernie Grunfeld will have to at least consider making some major shakeups to the roster,” Ben Mehic of Fan Sided wrote about the possible Wall-Cousins reunion.

Mehic suggests a trade of Bradley Beal, Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre and another big man in a Kings-Wizards deal involving Cousins. Any trade of Beal by Washington should happen after January 14 because Beal recently signed a contract extension. So the Kings and Wizards have time to talk before the NBA trade deadline in February.

Blockbuster Kings-Wizards trade

A trade of Cousins, Rudy Gay for Beal, Porter and Oubre works via Real GM Trade Checker. The Wizards can send multiple future first round picks to Sacramento just to entice the Kings to agree to a deal.

NBA trade rumors for now, but if the Kings and Wizards continue to struggle, DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall could demand trades midway through this season.
