Latest NBA trade rumors have Brook Lopez joining Anthony Davis in the New Orleans Pelicans frontcourt. That big man duo could save the season for the struggling Pelicans team but what would it take for New Orleans to nab Lopez from the Brooklyn Nets?
Sports Illustrated made a list on which NBA stars are likely to find new homes before the NBA trade deadline in February 2017.
One of the players mentioned is Lopez, whom they described as a player not fit for the “rebuilding Nets” and who could be a great fit alongside Davis in New Orleans.
“A pseudo-contender or up-and-coming team would be wise to gamble on Lopez—particularly a team that struggles luring All-Stars in free agency. It’s possible it would be an awful fit, but I wouldn’t hate to see Lopez in New Orleans, where Anthony Davis is in desperate need of help,” Writer Rohan Nadkarni said of the possible New Orleans-Brooklyn trade.
Blockbuster trade between Nets and Pelicans
So here’s a trade that will make it possible for Lopez to join Davis in NO: Brooklyn Nets receive Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans and Buddy Hield plus a first round draft pick and the New Orleans Pelicans receive Brook Lopez.
This Pelicans-Nets deal makes a lot of sense for both teams. Brooklyn may be getting washed up or old guys but both Holiday and Evans are on one-year deals so their expiring contracts have great value to trade near the trade deadline.
Buddy Hield and the future first rounder from New Orleans is the deal-breaker that can convince the Nets to do this trade.
For the Pelicans, giving up Hield is the price they’ll pay in trying to save the current season as they go to war with the Brook Lopez-Anthony Davis frontcourt and try to save a faltering campaign this NBA season.
At 0-6 so far this season, the Pelicans badly wants to recover this season.
Does these NBA trade rumors make sense? Should the Nets aggressively trade Brook Lopez to help their rebuild?
