Aaron Dobson could be on his way to signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to the latest NFL rumors. A former player for the New England Patriots, he did not make the 53-man roster cut before the season started and is in search of a new team.
The 25-year-old Dobson is a former second round pick but did not impress the Patriots but played three years for the squad. He has a total of 28 NFL games in his career with a total of 698 receiving yards on 53 catches with four touchdowns.
He has played just 12 games the last two seasons and only had 141 receiving yards on 13 catches last year. Dobson’s most productive year was in 2013, his rookie season.

Dobson’s main issue is his number of drops during the last two seasons when he was an unreliable player for the constant Super Bowl contenders.
The Eagles won their Week 1 match-up against the Cleveland Browns, 29-10, with QB Carson Wentz making an impressive debut.
If he signs with the Eagles, Dobson is not assured of playing time with Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor taking most reps in the wide receiver slot. Philadelphia even signed WRs Rueben Randle and Chris Givens in the offseason but both did not make the initial cut with the Eagles.
Matthews, Agholor and Zach Ertz played well for the Eagles at the WR spot against the Browns.
Aaron Dobson also tried out for the New York Jets a week before the regular season started but both sides could not finalize a contract. Dobson was part of the Patriots champion team that won Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks.
