The Cleveland Browns are still winless after seven games and they are sure sellers at the trade deadline which is just one week away. According to the latest NFL rumors, the Browns could trade offensive tackle Joe Thomas to the New York Giants.

Bleacher Report noted earlier this month that many teams are going to call the Browns and inquire about Thomas. Despite the winless start to the season, the 31-year-old is still one of the best players in his position in the entire league.

It should be noted that the nine-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle was almost traded to the Denver Broncos last season but the deal did not go through. The Browns are likely to pull a trigger on a Thomas trade for an offer that is hard to resist.

According to James Kratch of, the Giants have some interest in acquiring Joe Thomas from the Browns at the deadline next Tuesday. Even though New York defeated the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, the team still wants to improve their offensive line.

“The Giants may be interested in adding some help to the offensive line. And to do so, they may pursue a big fish their fans have clamored for. The Browns could very well finally trade future Hall of Fame tackle Joe Thomas this year with the deadline now a week away,” Kratch reported.

However, Browns head coach Hue Jackson insisted in a press conference on Monday that the team is not going to trade Thomas. He noted that Thomas is a big part of the Browns’ future and they are not letting him go even for a second-round pick.

“We are not going to trade Joe Thomas. Joe Thomas has a lot to do with what we are trying to accomplish here in our future. There are a lot of reports, but that is what they are,” Jackson said, via

These are just NFL rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. The Browns will likely keep Joe Thomas unless they get blown by an offer from teams such as the Giants, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.
