The first Stamford Bridge visit by Jose Mourinho as the Manchester United boss has not been memorable. The Chelsea players were not kind to their former manager as the Red Devils were humbled to a 4-0 defeat by the Blues.
This has led to several speculations regarding Jose Mourinho being sacked by Manchester United even before the end of the current season. The odds now stand at 7/2 for the 53-year-old to be sacked before the start of next summer. It is 10/1 on him getting the boot before Christmas and 20/1 on the former Real Madrid coach to be sacked before the Manchester derby on October 26, 2016, according to Ladbrokes.com.
Although Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge was predicted to be a cagey affair, the reality was completely different. Chelsea led the match inside 30 seconds, when Pedro capitalized on a misunderstanding within the United defense, as reported by ESPN.
The misery was piled on when Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante scored the next three goals. This prevented Manchester United from mounting any comebacks. Mourinho was seen dejected on the sidelines, without any idea of what was happening on the pitch.
Manchester United have been on a miserable run in the Premier League, garnering just five points from their last six games. This includes a first-time loss to Watford since 1986 and a hapless draw against Stoke City.
United have been booked 4/6 to finish outside the top four in the Premier League table. If this happens, this will be the third time in four years when United will fail to qualify for the Champions League.
If this happens, then the Red Devils could be looking at a mass exodus of superstars from Old Trafford. Based on the odds, the first player to jump the ship will be world-record signing of the summer Paul Pogba. He has been placed at 5/2 to leave the club before next summer.
The next in line is David De Gea. The Spain international goalkeeper has been given a 7/4 to be leave or be sold by next summer.
Manchester United is due to face their city rivals Manchester City on Wednesday night in the League Cup clash. If Mourinho suffers another humiliation at home at the hands of the local rivals, his time at United could be fast approaching an end.
