Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate last met in 2013 where Rousey defeated Tate. And now fresh on the heels of defeating Holly Holm at UFC 196, Miesha Tate hopes to have a rematch with Ronda Rousey.
Miesha Tate is scheduled to have her first title defence against Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 on July 9. But that hasn’t stopped her to demand a rematch with Ronda Rousey.
During the press conference of UFC 200 at Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City (NYC), Tate said that she wants a rematch with Rousey. The 29-year-old in fact wants the rematch to happen at UFC 205, when Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion makes its NYC debut.
“I think everything happens for a reason,” Tate said, reports MMA Fighting. “I told everybody I was going to beat Holly and I did, and I’m going to beat Amanda on the 9th, and I’m going to go on, and hopefully I’m going to see Ronda in Madison Square Garden. That’s going to be great.”
UFC is going to make a foray in New York nine years after it got banned in the state. UFC 205 will take place on Nov 12 at the famed Madison Square Garden.
If Miesha Tate gets the rematch with Ronda Rousey then it will be a perfect opportunity for her to avenge the previous two losses. Rousey defeated Tate first in the now-defunct Strikeforce in 2012 and then in the UFC in 2013.
But prior to Rousey, she has to face Amanda Nunes who has had four consecutive wins. As a matter of fact, Nunes is in no mood to give Tate an easy fight.
“I have all the tools to beat you, Miesha. I’m going to show everybody,” Nunes warned Tate.
Miesha however, still has Ronda on her mind.
“I think either one of them makes a great contender, they’re both right in that top ranking, we’ll see who wins,” Tate said. “But either way, I’m hoping Ronda’s going to make a comeback before that.”
