English Premier League (EPL) side West Ham United received a major blow in the form of Andy Caroll’s injury. The English striker is set to miss four to six weeks of football, owing to a knee injury.

The 27-year-old Carroll was extremely confident of leaving behind his injury troubles before going into the new season. But, he is already facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury in Romania. West Ham United were playing Astra Giurgiu in a Europa League qualification game when Carroll picked up the injury, according to Daily Mail.

West Ham manager, Slaven Bilic is having a terrible time at the club in terms of injuries. Club record signing, Andre Ayew was sidelined for at least four months a few days back due to a thigh injury. The player will have to undergo a surgery to recover. Ayew arrived at West Ham for $26.80 million.

With both Caroll and Ayew injured, Enner Valencia, Ashley Fletcher and Jonathan Calleri remains the only three options available at the strikers position for Bilic. It has to be noted that Argentinian Calleri is on a season-long loan at the club.

The season for the London club started a couple of weeks before their Premier League rivals, due to their Europa League qualification match. This is also termed as one of the reason for the club suffering such an injury crisis. With so many injuries on the table, the squad for the Hammers is stretched already heading into the new season.

Dimitri Payet, star of West Ham United’s fantastic last season is still unable to regularly feature for the club as he arrived late into the pre-season owing to his Euro 2016 commitments for France. However, with the Frenchman’s inclusion in the starting lineup, things could look a bit promising for Bilic and the Hammers.
