Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) central defender Marquinhos wants to leave the club for better playing opportunities. La Liga giant Barcelona’s attempt to strengthen its defense this season will receive a major boost after the Brazilian expressed his desire.

The 22-year-old has reportedly met with Naseer Al-Khelaifi, owner of PSG and have personally explained the struggles of not being able to play the required amount of games per season. He has personally expressed his desire of ending his time at the Parc des Prince and move on his career with another club, according to SPORT.

Naseer Al-Khelaifi is also interested to see the player leave and is willing to sit down with Barcelona over a possible transfer. However, the Catalan club must meet the valuation of the player set by PSG.

The 22-year-old Marquinhos had attempted to leave PSG three times previously, but was unable to move forward with his attempts. He was forced to sit on the bench for most of the occasions and was played at an unnatural position whenever he featured for the club. This has pushed the player to express his feelings to the owner of the club.

Barcelona wants to add a center-back at their heart of the defense. However, Marquinhos’ age could be a factor which may deter them from making a bid. The Catalan club’s hierarchy have been monitoring the player for a long time and has also had a talk with the player’s agent in the recently concluded Champions League Final at Milan on May 28, 2016.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are the other clubs who are reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian center-back. However, if Barcelona drops in an official bid, they will be ahead of all the other clubs in this transfer race.

It is expected that an official bid from Barcelona will be made in the next few weeks.
