Barcelona wants to add a cover for their attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar (MSN). They have identified Croatia’s Ivan Perisic as the perfect option. The Inter Milan winger is having a fantastic tournament at Euro 2016 and is also chased by the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 27-year-old has already scored twice at Euro 2016 and has led his side to the knockout stages of the competition. The interest in the Inter Milan player will rise with more impressive performance at the Euros, as reported by Sport.es, via Football Italia.
Perisic is valued at $34 million, but his price will increase if he continues his outstanding performance in France. The man from Split, SFR Yugoslavia is generally deployed as a winger, but is capable to feature both as a No. 10 as well as a second striker, according to Tuttosport, via Football Italia.
The Croatian was not the first choice though for Barcelona this summer. The Catalan club was eager to rope in Celta Vigo’s Nolito for $20 million. But, Manchester City has already met the clause of the attacker and it is believed that the player will prefer to play under newly appointed City boss Pep Guardiola, as reported by BBC.
Although he is a few years older than Nolito, Perisic would be an excellent alternative to the Spaniard. He will also provide Barcelona with the perfect backup plan to MSN. The 27-year-old is both an attacker and a goalscorer and his playing style will suit the likes of coach Luis Enrique.
If Barcelona agrees to meet the financial demands laid by Inter Milan, this transfer is highly possible.
