Barcelona superstar Neymar has reportedly told his friends that Manchester United could be his potential destination this summer. The Brazil international has confirmed that the Red Devils are prepared to activate the £169 million ($218m) release clause in his Barcelona contract.
Neymar is yet to agree on a contract extension at the Camp Nou. The 25-year-old is reportedly considering a switch to Old Trafford, as reported by Daily Record. Despite being interested in a move, the man from Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil is an ambitious target for Manchester United considering his contract with Barcelona is until 2021.
Jose Mourinho, Manchester United manager is prepared to start the new season without star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede has suffered a long-term knee injury. He will potentially be missing action until January, next year. Hence, the Portuguese gaffer is looking for a new striker.
Neymar is not the only high-profile attacker linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer. The likes of Antoine Griezmann, Andrea Belotti, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku are on Mourinho’s shortlist. Hence, the former Chelsea manager is expected to splash over £210m ($272m) to bring back the glory days at Manchester United.
United keen to bring back academy graduate
In other news, United are set to face competition from three clubs in the pursuit of Burnley defender Michael Keane. Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton are also desperate to land the England international this summer, according to The Telegraph.
There is interest in the United academy graduate. But, he is reportedly expected to fetch around £30m ($25m) after an excellent season for the Clarets.
Barcelona chasing Verratti, Bernardo Silva
Meanwhile, it is being reported that the Catalan giants have opened talks over signing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Marco Verratti. The Italian, who was on the losing side as Barcelona produced an astonishing comeback to knock PSG out the Champions League, is a top target for the La Liga giants. Verratti’s agent Donato Di Campli has been at the Nou Camp twice to hold talks over a summer move, according to Spanish sports paper Mundo Deportivo.
Barcelona reportedly have warned Jorge Mendes not to allow Bernardo Silva to join Real Madrid, according to reports. Real Madrid and Manchester United are the other two clubs interested in signing the Monaco playmaker.
