Premier League club Chelsea have expressed their interest in Celtic striker Moussa Dembele. The Blues value the player at $37.53 million. However, Celtic will not entertain any offers less than $50m for the French striker.
The Scottish Premier League side are extremely reluctant to let Dembele leave before the winter transfer window deadline. Celtic are reportedly frustrated with the Blues approach for the 20-year-old, according to Sky Sports.
Chelsea have been monitoring the progress of Dembele from his time at Fulham. The man from Pontoise, France was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur back then and almost signed for the team in January 2016. However, the move failed to materialize and he instead chose Scotland as his next destination.
France under-21 Dembele went on to sign for the Glasgow giants Celtic in the 2016 summer transfer window. The Scottish side only had to pay a nominal $625,647 for his services as his contract expired at Craven Cottage. He has caught the eye of the Chelsea recruitment team with some impressive performances in the Champions League.
Dembele has scored 20 goals from 38 appearances for Celtic so far. This includes an eye-catching double against Manchester City and an impressive equalizer, from the penalty spot against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League, as reported by The Guardian.
Antonio Conte, who was previously linked with Swansea striker Fernando Llorente is now keen to add Dembele to his list of attacking options. The Italian wants to add more depth to his strike force which his headed by Diego Costa, according to ESPN.
Both Celtic and Chelsea have also been in discussions regarding goalkeeper Craig Gordon. The Blues wants to bring in the 34-year-old as a backup to club No. 1 Thibaut Courtois. Asmir Begović, the current backup at Stamford Bridge has been tipped to complete a $12.5m transfer to Bournemouth.
However, Celtic is reluctant to let Gordon leave the club. The Hoops want to keep hold of the Scotland international, but Chelsea is expected to return with a third offer for the player.
Chelsea will travel to Anfield on Tuesday to take on Liverpool in the Premier League. The Blues currently have a 13-point gap over The Reds. Conte will look to increase the difference and inch closer to their first league title since the 2014-15 season.
