Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo’s private jet has crash landed at the El Prat airport in Barcelona. It is being reported that the 31-year-old and his family was not on the plane during the incident.

Eyewitnesses reveal that emergency services rushed to the spot of the accident immediately. The cause of the accident is believed to be a malfunction in the landing gear. Nobody in the plane was hurt, except the pilot who escaped with a few minor injuries, as reported by Mirror.

The runway was closed after the incident for a short time. The pilot was catered to by the medical representatives present at the airport for his minor bruises.

The Portugal international captain brought the plane last year for an amount of $19.5 million. The cost of the damages won’t be a huge concern for the player though as he is expecting to sign a bumper new contract offer from Real Madrid in the coming weeks, according to The Sun.

“The plane is normally rented by companies and it was in use by one of them. Cristiano Ronaldo, his family or friends were not on the plane. The incident had no major consequences.” A source said.

The former Manchester United winger was training with his teammates in Germany when the incident occurred, ahead of their Champions League clash with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
