La Liga side Atletico Madrid are not giving up their hopes of landing English Premier League (EPL) club, Chelsea’s striker Diego Costa this summer. The Blues signed Costa from Atletico Madrid a couple of seasons back for $42 million and Los Colchoneros want their man back this summer.
The 27-year-old Costa has told the Stamford Bridge hierarchy that he will not force a move away from the club. But, Atletico Madrid are still confident that they will be able to prize the Spain international away given that Chelsea are interested to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, as reported by Mirror.
AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca is also linked to the Madrid club and is stalling a move to West Ham United. The Colombian striker has made his intentions clear that he will join Champions League regulars Atleti if they showed an interest in signing him.
However, Atletico Madrid has made it clear that they consider Bacca as their second-option and will only go after the player if they fail to sign Cosa. The Spanish giants are very confident of landing the Chelsea front man.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is extremely eager to sign Morata this summer and Atleti wants to capitalize on this scenario to bring back their former goalscorer. They want to wait patiently for over a month until the summer transfer window closes. They believe that once Chelsea lands the Spaniard, they will be more open to sell Costa.
The Blues have made repeated attempts to prize Morata away from Madrid, but the Los Blancos wants $88 million for the striker and Chelsea are expected to make a new bid.
