He may be booked going into their next match for going over the crowd, but Hull City Association Football Club’s goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic was just happy having survived the onslaught given to him by Arsenal in their FA Cup match that ended up in a 0-0 draw.
The game would have gone to the Gunners side, had it not been for Jakupovic’s performance. Going one minute into stoppage time, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez was fouled and was given a free kick. However, his shot was not good enough as the 31-year old Jakupovic managed to save it to his right.
It was indeed a close call for Hull City and all thanks to Jakupovic, who made 11 saves in the match. As Hull City players applauded their fans for the support, Jakupovic went over to his daughter and gave her a kiss that will surely be remembered throughout his career – having survived Arsenal’s beating.
Aside stopping Arsenal’s goal attempts, Jakupovic’s squad went on offensive mode as well when Hull City’s Sone Aluko got into two scoring positions, but both occasions were called offside, which was a sound of relief for Arsenal.
Hull City goes into a short break before they take on Ipswich Town in The Championship League on February 23 and then they face Sheffield Wednesday on February 26.
On the other hand, Arsenal uses the game as a much needed preparation when they host FC Barcelona in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League on February 23.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will have to come up with something off his sleeves to avoid a third knock out defeat from the Champions League title holders, who are much determine to defend their crown this season with Lionel Messi leading the way.
