Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s four priority profile signings of the summer are done. However, the former Chelsea manager wants to add Monaco defender Fabinho to his team before the summer transfer window ends.
The self-proclaimed “Special One” wants to strengthen his backline, especially the right-back position which is termed as one of the few positions which United needs an improvement. The Brazilian has been long linked to United over the summer and reports are suggesting that the player could soon make a $33.82 million switch to Old Trafford, as reported by Marca, via Sport Witness.

The 22-year-old, Fabinho is an accomplished player at right-back and is known both for his defensive and offensive qualities. The Brazilian can also be played as a defensive midfielder and will certainly add a lot of depth to Mourinho’s Manchester United.
United’s current option at right-back is Antonio Valencia, who is essentially more comfortable paying as a right-winger. The Red Devil’s also have Matteo Darmian, but the Italian is already tipped with a move to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Mourinho started Valencia as right-back against United’s 2016/17 opening English Premier League (EPL) match against Bournemouth, last Sunday. The Ecuadorian played very well, however there is lingering doubts of his defensive ability which could get exposed against big teams.
Fabinho made a total of 34 appearances for Monaco last season in which he found the net 6 times. He created a total of 25 chances for his team with a pass accuracy of 81%. The Brazilian is involved in 5 defensive actions per match and wins 50% of his duels, according to Squakwa.com.
Here is what Manchester United will be getting if they sign Fabinho as his stats are reflected to that against Valencia.
