Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has rubblished claims of him leaving the Catalan giants this summer. In addition, the Croatian has also revealed who his real agent is on Twitter.
“Getting ready for the new season and really up for it. By the way, my only agent is Arturo Canales.” Rakitic tweeted on his official Twitter page.
The rumors of Rakitic leaving Barcelona was made by Miguel Sors, initially believed to be the midfielder’s representative. However, the 28-year-old has cleared all the speculations on Twitter and has also revealed who actually represents him.
The player’s statement was followed by Sors rant on Twitter after Barcelona signed Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes. The news of Gomes’ capture by the Catalan giants was made by Sergio Gomez and J.L. Guerrero of AS.
Gomes might be a fantastic signing at the Camp Nou, but losing a player of Rakitic’s stature would have been a massive blow for the current La Liga champions. The midfielder is one of the most important pieces of Barcelona’s midfield, especially after the departure of Xavi Hernandez.
The man from Möhlin, Switzerland made 36 appearances for Barcelona in the La Liga last season in which he scored 7 goals. He created a total of 33 chances for his team with a pass accuracy of 88%. He won 46% of his duels in midfield and received a total of 3 yellow cards in the entire campaign, as reported by Squawka.
In the past couple of seasons, Rakitic has managed to replace the unbelievable skills and talents of both Xavi and Cesc Fabregas at the club. The Croatian is one of the most pivotal figures in the Barcelona midfield.
