English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj is attracting interest from new Sunderland manager David Moyes. The Scotsman wants to bring the Belgian to the Stadium of Light.
The former Manchester United manager is reportedly willing to enquire the availability of the 21-year-old who gained interest from Sunderland last season as well. With limited playing opportunities at Old Trafford, Januzaj may consider a move to a team which will offer him more first-team football, as reported by MailOnline.
The man from Brussels, Belgium had a disastrous last season, first on-loan with Borussia Dortmund and then at United under Louis Van Gaal. Januzaj was ignored by the Dutchman and was given just 17 minutes of Premier League football.
It has to be noted that Januzaj got his debut under David Moyes and he burst into the scene with some brilliant displays. He scored four and assisted four in the 2013/14 campaign, where he made 27 Premier League appearances. However, since Moyes’ departure from the club, the Belgian has failed to display the same level of form.
Manchester United recently released their new set of squad numbers for the upcoming season and Januzaj’s number 11 was given to Anthony Martial. This has further raised doubts about the winger’s future at the club, according to Stuart Mathieson of Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils are filled with a number of players fighting it out at Januzaj’s position, thus making it extremely difficult for the player to break into the first-team. Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Memphis Depay and Jese Lingard all play in the same position and unless a couple of them leave the club this summer, playing opportunities will be limited for the player.
A transfer away to Sunderland is the best possible move for Januzaj at the moment and reuniting with David Moyes could give the player a fresh start in his football career. He may also be given an important role by the Scotsman at his new club.
