Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that midfielder Bastian Schweinsteger will continue to stay at the club. The German World Cup winner will be featured in the club’s Europa League games.

Schweinsteger made his first start for Manchester United this season in the 4-0 FA Cup fourth round win against Wigan. The appearance was the German veteran’s third for The Red Devils under Mourinho, as reported by Sky Sports.

The former Bayern Munich player was frozen out at Old Trafford by Mourinho since his arrival. However, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager believes that the 32-year-old has a future at the club, at least until the end of the current season.

“Yes he is staying. He is going to be in the Europa League list because we opened spaces with [Memphis] Depay and [Morgan] Schneiderlin [leaving]. We don’t have many players and we don’t have many options in midfield,” Mourinho said.

Mourinho has stressed that he will use Schweinsteger as an “option”. The Portuguese gaffer has praised the German’s professional attitude and will turn to him since the club is involved in a lot of competitions, including the Premier League, Europa League, EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

Ashley Young could leave in January

Manchester United winger, Ashley Young is the only player who could leave the club in the January transfer window. The former England international is being courted by Premier League clubs, Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Watford. The player has also gained interest from China.

“Ashley young is a player I would love to keep. I am not happy if he leaves, but he is the only player that I am informed has a possibility of leaving. If I could choose, definitely yes he would stay with us.” Mourinho said, as reported by BBC.

Mourinho unhappy with United’s fixture list

Jose Mourinho has labeled Manchester United’s fixture schedule as “nonsense”. He has mentioned the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Southampton, who will play a lot less matches than The Red Devils.

“Southampton will have 15 days without football before the final [EFL Cup]. We are going to play two matches against Saint-Etienne and the next round of the FA Cup, so the calendar In the best country of football is nonsense.” Mourinho added.
