English Premier League (EPL) club Liverpool are looking at Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer after the Croatia international failed to find form at the Santiago Bernabeu last season. The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in the player and wants to bring him to Anfield.
Kovacic was signed by Real Madrid last summer from Serie A giant Inter Milan. However, the Los Blancos are now willing to sell the Croatian provided another club is willing to meet his valuation, according to Marca, via Daily Express.
The 22-year-old made a total of 25 appearances in the La Liga last season, in which he scored no goals for the club. He created 18 chances for his team and has an average pass accuracy of 91%. He also featured for Croatia in the recently concluded Euro 2016, making 2 appearances, creating no chances and no assists for his country. He completed 14 passes in the tournament with a pass accuracy of 82%, 57% of which were forward passes, according to Squawka.
Kovacic is considered as one of the brightest prospects of Croatia. However, after a dismal season in Spain, the player would like to try his luck elsewhere, where he could get his career back on track. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could be the perfect place for him to build something again from the scratch.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski is also being tipped to make his way to Anfield. The Polish international has a special connection with Klopp and this could help the Reds in capturing the player, as reported by Der Westen, via Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool have already signed in Sadio Mane this season to spice up their flanks and adding an experienced Blaszczykowski would strengthen the development of their recent acquisition. He could also provide an immediate upgrade over the current options available to Klopp.
