English Premier League (EPL) side Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes is interested in signing Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder/winger, Christian Pulisic to his squad for $22.42 million before the end of the summer transfer window.
Reports in Germany are suggesting that Stoke are willing to pay big money for the player and have already approached Dortmund with their request. Pulisic, who has already been capped for six times for USA, became the youngest player to score for his nation recently, when he scored in a 4-0 victory against Bolivia in a friendly match, as reported by The Sun.
The 17-year-old is considered a teenage sensation and will command the second highest transfer fee paid by Stoke for a player in their history. The man from Hershey, Pennsylvania made two appearances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga last season, finding the net twice.
With Mario Gotze returning to the Westfalenstadion this summer, Pulisic’s playing time will be extremely limited. This has created interest for the player in Europe with clubs like CSKA Moscow and Red Bull Leipzig also showing an interest to capture the player.
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has also revealed his admiration for Pulisic and has rated the teenager highly. However, the Reds manager won’t be signing the player given that Liverpool already have a lot of options in their attacking midfielder position.
Stoke City supporters are craving for signings this summer with the club only managing three until now. This includes their $17m spend on former Liverpool midfielder, Joe Allen. The fans expect further incomings before the transfer window closes on August 31, 2016.
Stoke City made an impressive ninth place finish in the Premier League table last season and the club wants to build on that. Signing Pulisic would be one of the major steps taken along that direction.
Here is what Pulisic can offer to Stoke City in the Premier League.
