Manchester United supporters are expecting manager Louis Van Gaal to get sacked as soon as possible. With another season of boring football and hopes of a Champions League qualification dying away, the Dutchman is under huge pressure as the current season comes to a close. However, Van Gaal is confident of staying at Old Trafford next season and has revealed his transfer plans.
“I am still looking for fast, creative players.” Van Gaal said, as reported by Daily Star.
The Dutchman has also stressed on the fact that Manchester United will be able to attract top quality players even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. The Red Devils are currently placed fifth in the Premier League table and will need their city rivals Manchester City to lose their final game of the season against Swansea City in order to qualify for the premier continental cup competition. However, United must ensure that they win against Bournemouth in their final Premier League encounter of the season.
The 64-year-old mentioned that United were in the same position last year and yet they qualified for the Champions League. He also added that there were certain players he liked whom the club failed to sign.
Regarding the Renato Sanches transfer to Bayern Munich, Van Gaal said that he is not in a position to discuss that with the press since it’s a matter between him and the board.
Van Gaal’s future as the Manchester United manager is still in doubt. If the club fails to make top four, the Dutchman is likely to be given marching orders by the club hierarchy.
Jose Mourinho is touted to take over the reins at Manchester United and some reports already claim that the Portuguese has agreed a contract with the club.
