English Premier League (EPL) giant Manchester City have made a late transfer bid of $44.66 million for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe. The Citizens want to capture the wonderkid on transfer deadline day.
However, the Ligue 1 club has rejected the offer as they do not want to sell a player with such high potential. Mbappe has been linked with a move to the Premier League before with the likes of Arsenal interested in the Frenchman, as reported by Metro.
The 17-year-old made a total of 11 appearances for Monaco in Ligue 1 last season in which he scored 1 goal. He has a shot accuracy of 67% and created 4 chances for his team, as reported by Squawka.
Although the stats for the youngster are not impressive yet, the player is regarded as an amazing talent. City has been scouting the player for a long-time and was in their radar this summer. However, with Monaco rejecting their approach, they have to wait for the future to renew their interest in Mbappe, as reported by L’Equipe.
Manchester City’s new manager Pep Guardiola has had a busy summer transfer window after taking over. The Spaniard has brought in the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, John Stones and Leroy Sane to bolster their bid for the Premier League title this season.
City finished fourth in the league last season, tied with the same number of points as rivals Manchester United. But, they want to improve on that position and also try to become serious contenders for the Champions League trophy.
