Jose Mourinho has been active lately. After coming over to Manchester United as its manager he is determined to get people into the team. Though he is not considering any player from Portugal, players are beating down Manchester’s door in hopes of playing for him.
Earlier there has been the talk of Ibrahimovic wanting to play for Manchester United. Now Eric Bailly from Villareal has been signed to play for the team, though that will still depend on whether he can secure a work permit as ESPN reports. Bailly is said to have signed a 4-year, 30 million British pounds contract. The contract includes an option to extend for another two years.
“Eric has the potential to become one of the best around,” Mourinho said of Manchester’s new acquisition, according to the BBC. Bailly is grateful as well for the chance to play for Manchester.
“It’s a dream come true to be joining Manchester United,” Bailly said as posted on the official Manchester United site. “To play football at the highest level is all I have ever wanted to do.” While Bailly has been signed, there is speculation that another player might likely join Manchester also. Sources say that Mourinho wants to have Nemanja Matic into the team as well.
The objective of getting Matic is to strengthen Manchester’s midfield. Matic is said to be an imposing figure on the field and that would be essential for Manchester’s strategy. Bailly is regarded as being aggressive, fast and powerful. The Daily Record sees him be a little rash as well.
While Matic might be midfield, Bailly has played a number of positions. With Real Madrid, he was right back while with Atletico he was left back. His best position though was the center back and that is most likely where he will be placed as well by Manchester.
Mourinho is also interested in getting Paul Pogba from Juventus although this might be a much harder objective. With other teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona also showing interest, it would be a challenge to compete for him.
Another option that is being talked about is getting Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. If that would happen sources say Mourinho will likely let go of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo to meet any demand for Griezmann.
