English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is interested to offer midfielder Juan Mata a brand new contract extension. Both have reportedly hold talks over a new deal with the Spaniard well settled in the city of Manchester.
The 28-year-old Mata currently earns $168,837-a-week at Old Trafford. The player is upbeat for a contract extension and Mourinho, despite selling him during his stint at Chelsea is interested now to keep the player at the club, as reported by The Sun.
The former Chelsea and Valencia attacking midfielder is loved by the fans at Old Trafford and has settled well into the club. The player wants to extend his stay at the Theater of Dreams and is hoping that Mourinho gives a green signal to the contract extension.
“There have been talks, but Juan is still in the dark over his future at the club. He is desperate to stay and likes his life in the Manchester area. It is all down to Jose’s decision now. United don’t want to leave this one rumbling though and are keen to sort it before the New Year.” A source within the club said.
Mata has a couple of years left on his current contract with United. Despite this, the club hierarchy is willing to tie the player down with another long-term deal, as reported by Goal.com.

The player recently replaced club captain Wayne Rooney at the No. 10 position in the match against Leicester City last week. United played brilliantly in the first half to secure a 4-1 win over the reigning Premier League champions. Mata scored a goal himself as well after constructing a brilliant move with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingaard.
Apart from Mata, United want to offer contract extensions to two academy graduates, Marcus Rashford and Lingaard as well.
