Manchester United Transfer News & Rumors: Borussia Dortmund agree $47m Henrikh Mkhitaryan fee

English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United have agreed to pay $47 million for Borussia Dortmund and Armenia attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan . The Bundesliga club are reportedly set to agree on the amount to confirm the transfer of a player who is on his last year of contract at the club.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Dortmund revealed on Tuesday that the Red Devils have significantly improved their last offer. The significant improvement is reportedly around twice the amount of $26 million United offered last time, according to Kicker.

The transfer of Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United will be the highest fee ever for a player who is in his last year of contract with a club in Europe. The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days, according to ESPN.

The Dortmund hierarchy are currently finalizing all the necessary details of the contract and will speak to all the bodies of their board before officially finalizing their decision. For the transfer to pass with ease, the 27-year-old will have to clear medical at Old Trafford, which is just a formality.

The man from Yerevan, Armenia scored 11 goals in the Bundesliga, creating 82 chances and 15 assists. He completed a total of 922 passes for Dortmund last season in which 75% of them were accurate, 67% were forward passes, as reported by

Mkhitaryan joined Borussia Dortmund from Shakhtar Donetsk for $30 million in 2013. His agent, Mino Raiola, recently confirmed that Manchester United is the player’s dream club and he wants to join them by any means possible.

The Armenian attacking midfielder will be Jose Mourinho’s second signing at the club after capturing central defender Eric Bailly earlier in the transfer window.
