Manchester United is yet to win a Premier League match at Old Trafford since September. The Red Devils will look to break the jinx on Sunday as they host West Ham United.

United face an out-of-form West Ham who are looking to pull themselves out of the relegation zone. A win for the Red Devils however would be their second in seven league games.

Match Preview

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho desperately needs a win in the Premier League. The Red Devils are currently nine points behind league leaders Chelsea. They are also six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, the last slot for an entry into the next season’s Champions League.

However, United seems to have found a rhythm in recent games, even if they are not finding results. The midfield combination of Michael Carrick, Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera has clicked well. This has allowed the entire United team play a more fluid brand of football.

Football writers Elko Born and Liam Canning have praised the recent performances of the United midfield.

Carrick provides the stability, composure and tidiness in passing. Herrera provides the mobility and tireless running. This leaves Pogba free and he provides the creative flair upfront.

United’s main concern is in converting the chances created. The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford needs to find their goalscoring boots again to make the team a real attacking threat in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the current season has been a disaster for West Ham United. Until now, the team has scored only 13 goals in the league. Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini have scored six of them.

Both United and West Ham have porous defense. Hence, this game could produce a lot of goals for the fans to cherish.

Team News

Manchester United will miss the services of Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling and Marouane Fellaini due to injuries.

West Ham United also has some missing names ahead of their encounter at Old Trafford. The likes of Andy Carroll, Reece Oxford, Arthur Masuaku and Sam Byram will be absent for the Hammers, according to Warren Haughton of The Sun.
