English Premier League (EPL) side Chelsea are looking to reinforce at the back and are willing to pay big money for full-back Marcos Alonso of Fiorentina. The Blues are also rumored to let go of young center-back Kurt Zouma before the end of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay a transfer fee of $28 million for Alonso to Fiorentina. It has to be noted that the player has had previous stints with Sunderland and Bolton Wanderers in England, as reported by Marca, h/t Metro.

The 25-year-old, who previously failed to make a mark in England has come a long way to become one of the best full-backs of the Serie A. He is considered as an attacking force in Italy capable of providing crosses after crosses in a match, as David Amoyal of states.

The player has a raw natural pace and is willing to contribute all along the sideline, thus extending the width of the team. Alonso has experience of playing as a wing-back in the 3-5-2 formation, which Chelsea coach Antonio Conte used during his stint as the Juventus and Italy manager.

Here is a video showcasing what the player has to offer.

Alonso made 31 appearances for Fiorentina in the 2015/16 Serie A season. He created a total of 43 chances for his team and has a pass accuracy of 83%. He is involved in an average of 5 defensive actions per match, as reported by Squawka.

Meanwhile, Chelsea center-back Kurt Zouma is tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this summer to German Bundesliga side Schalke. Both the Blues and the Gelsenkirchen-based outfit are reportedly negotiating a deal for the young defender.

However, it is unlikely that the player will leave Chelsea, given that the Blues are in a serious defender crisis. Club legend, John Terry is nearing his retirement and the club needs another reliable center-back to partner Gary Cahill at the back. Zouma has loads of potential to provide that option to Conte.
